SERVICE YOUR BOILER
If you wish to avoid heating problems, remember it is YOUR responsibility to maintain annual services.
If you fail to do this you could invalidate your warranty, the consequences of this can be costly as you could have to pay for repairs in the event that the system fails.
BLEEDING RADIATORS
Trapped air can prevent a radiator from fully heating up (cool at the top). To release the air turn off the heating and allow to cool down. Using a radiator bleed key (readily available at any good DIY store) slowly open the valve and listen for the sound of escaping air. Be ready to close it when the air is followed by a trickle of water.
RE-PRESSURISE THE SYSTEM
Sealed heating systems may need re-pressurising from time-to-time. You will find a pressure gauge on or close to the boiler – if this indicates the system pressure has dropped you need to re-pressurise the system. Follow your boiler manual for instructions. See our 'How-To' video.
CHECK THERMOSTATS AND PROGRAMMERS
Remember to re-visit both of these as often we forget that settings may still reflect a 'summer situation' - you may need to adjust temperature and timings for the winter season.
